Professional Experience : Began career at Andrews & Kurth LLP (now Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP) for eleven years in corporate securities; Partner from 1992 to 1997. Appointed by the Governor of Texas to the Texas State Securities Board (1991 to 1997) and served as chairman (1995 to 1997). Solo practice since 1997; member of Colorado and Texas bars and various state and local bar associations. Published and lectured on securities law, buying and selling businesses, joint ventures, real estate partnerships, corporate law and legal ethics.

Professional and Community Involvement

Deon is an active leader in the community, donating his time and services to Neighborhood Recovery CDC, Houston First Corporation (on behalf of the City of Houston), The United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, the Houston Area Urban League, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Texas Minority Counsel Program of the State Bar of Texas and the Adopt a School Committee of the Houston Bar Association. As an active member of local and national bar associations, Deon has served on and chaired various committees of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association.
